From April 23, 2025, Avicenna - Batumi Medical University announces a university scientific research grant competition.
Project Goal:
To foster a research culture within the university, support the research activities of Avicenna’s academic and invited staff, and promote student involvement in the research process by contributing to the development of their research skills.
Competition Timeline:
- Submission of applications and accompanying documents via email at - grants@abmu.edu.ge - May 7–14, 2025 (until 18:00).
- Technical and content evaluation by the grant committee - May 15–28, 2025
- Announcement of selected project(s) - May 30, 2025
- Signing of grant agreements - June 2, 2025
- Start of project implementation - June 22, 2025
- Deadline for interim report submission - September 25, 2025
- Project completion deadline - December 22, 2025
- Final report submission deadline - January 22, 2026
Eligibility and Participation Conditions:
- The competition is open to academic and invited staff members of Avicenna – Batumi Medical University.
- Each project must include at least one active-status student of Avicenna.
- The project team must consist of at least two academic/invited staff members of Avicenna.
- In case of co-funding, the project author is entitled to involve specialists from other fields as co-authors or researchers. In such cases, copyright for the research results primarily belongs to Avicenna – Batumi Medical University.
Essential requirement of the project:
- Publication of research results in high-ranking and indexed journals (Elsevier (Scopus and Science Direct) / Web of Science, etc.).
- Organization of a post-research workshop or presentation to share the results with interested stakeholders.
Scientific-research directions:
Submission of a research project is possible within the framework of the university's internal grant competition:
- Within the research priority areas defined by the University's Scientific Research Development Policy.
- Research proposals outside the university’s defined research priorities may also be submitted, provided that their relevance and significance are clearly justified.
Project Budget - 7000,00 GEL
Note:
- The project is funded by Avicenna's research budget.
- The publication fee for the scientific article (outlined in the project budget) will be transferred to the project team upon submission of confirmation of the article's publication.
- Other project-related expenses will be funded based on the specific needs of the project.
Project Duration:
- The duration of each submitted research project must not exceed 6 months (with a 3-month reporting period).
- Based on the review of the application, the grant selection committee is authorized to request a timeline revision from the applicant(s) with a justified explanation.
