Congress organized by Georgian Association of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (GAACI)

XIII Georgian National Congress on Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, IX European Congress on Asthma, COPD and Respiratory Allergy and III International Congress “Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19): Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatment and Rehabilitation” was held in Hotel Radisson Blu Iveria and Tbilisi State Medical University, Tbilisi, 7-10 May 2024, the gold sponsor of the congress was Avicenna - Batumi Medical University. The scientific forum was attended by 240 participants who discussed a number of topical issues of clinical immunology.

School-conference was organized by Georgian Association of Allergology and Clinical Immunology in close cooperation with World Immunopathology Organization and Tbilisi State Medical University under the patronage World Allergy Organization (WAO) and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI).

Speakers of the school conference were Present and Past Presidents of WAO and EAACI, professors of leading universities and clinics in USA, Israel, Italy, Turkey, Georgia, namely Aaron Ciechanover, Martin Brayan, Gevdet Ozdemir, Stephano Del Giacco, Allen Kaplan, Jonathan Kipnis, Sean Whelan, Marco Colonna, Zaal Kokaia, Tinatin Chikovani, Gia Kamkamidze, Maia Kherkheulidze et. al.

International Day of Immunology and World Allergy Week was celebrated during the Congress. Congress and school audiences listened and participated in plenary sessions, keynote lectures, 12 symposia, online sessions, international school  „World Asthma Day” and Washington University international school “Frontiers in Medicine and Biology”, “New Frontiers in Immunology” and “Frontiers in Neuroimmunology”. The seminar “Project in One Day” was also organized for school participants.

The Symposia of Congress were focused on the epidemiology and diagnosis of allergic and infectious diseases and the study of immunopathogenesis of respiratory and skin diseases. Attendees discussed new opportunities in the diagnosis and treatment of immune-mediated diseases.

During the congress, the One Health approach was followed. It recognizes that the health of people is closely connected to the health of animals and our shared environment.

Discussion on the treatment of immune disorders with biologics and utilization of digital medicine in the management of immune diseases facilitated different perspectives in personalised medicine, mathematic modelling of treatment of immune-mediated diseases and artificial intelligence for diagnosis and treatment of allergy and autoimmune diseases.

Mention should be made of sessions organized by professors of Washington University Jonathan Kipnis, Eynav Klechevsky, Sean Whelan and others. Their presentations helped young scientists and clinicians to clarify the role of nervous and immune systems interaction in the development of some neurological and psychiatric diseases, features of immune ageing and the role of AI in the diagnosis of cancer.
